Bush’s Firing of 8 US Attornys
I don’t see what all the fuss is over the firings of those 8 US Attorneys. I really don’t.
United States Attorney’s serve at the will of the President of the United States, and he can remove them from their position at anytime for any reason. And there is precedent for doing this.
In March 1993 President Bill Clinton fired all 93 US Attorney’s. Janet Reno gave them 10 days to pack up their office and get out. This allowed President Clinton to put his friends in office, and I don’t disagree with the move. But now Hillary Clinton is blaming President Bush for, get this, “the politicization of our prosecutorial system.”
If anyone is politicizing the prosecutorial system it is the Democrats. They’re looking for something else to blame Bush for. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Democrat and I’ve never voted for President Bush, but it’s all seemed very silly to me since day 1 of this issue.
It’s really not that big of a deal, Bush fired 8, Clinton fired all 93. Drop the issue and get working on issues that actually matter! Attack Bush and the Republicans on the economy, on privacy issues, on the trade deficit, do something productive instead of trying to make the American people think the administration did something illegal in regards to these 8 attorney’s.
